Prioritizing Your Reading Block

This online half-day session will guide educators in identifying and prioritizing the most effective components of reading instruction within a 90- minute reading block based on the Science of Reading. Participants will examine the five essential components—Phonemic Awareness, Phonics/Structural Analysis, Fluency, Vocabulary, and Comprehension—and determine which instructional practices are critical for student success.

This self-paced online workshop is focused on setting up effective classroom management practices in the first twenty days to maximize the opportunities for teachers and students to engage in learning. Safe & Civil Schools CHAMPS and Discipline in the Secondary Classroom help classroom teachers develop (or fine-tune) effective classroom management plans that are proactive, positive, and instructional. Researchers have identified consistent and reliable findings concerning how effective teachers manage student behavior and enhance student motivation.
