Join Lexie Domaradzki and Shelby Skaanes for a new, semester long class on the critical components of the Science of Reading– developed just for Alaskan Administrators.
This course is intended to support administrator qualifications under the Alaska Reads Act and is specifically developed for administrators responsible for overseeing reading instruction in kindergarten through Grade 3. This course is designed to strengthen leaders’ knowledge and skills in the science of literacy instruction. Throughout the course, critical scientifically based reading research will be presented to support participants’ understanding of how reading develops and effective methods and strategies to teach literacy skills. This course includes eight synchronous modules with asynchronous supplemental learning to enhance the content of each module. It is designed to address professional learning for educators in Grades K through Grade 3. However, regardless of grade level, the information applies to all leaders who support beginning and struggling readers. At the end of this professional development opportunity, participants can draw from their knowledge of the science of reading to increase their students’ literacy outcomes through evidence-based literacy instruction and intervention.
