Alaska RTI Conference: Building Student Success

January 25-27, 2013 –
Dena’ina Convention Center –
Sponsored by the Anchorage School District and the Alaska Staff Development Network –

  • Build momentum and foundational knowledge to move forward with RTI
  • Learn from nationally recognized experts without the expense of out-of-state travel

Last year 1,000 educators from 26 school districts attended the Alaska RTI Conference.  The conference sold out several weeks in advance, and evaluations from the event were overwhelmingly positive.  This year’s event builds on last year’s successes. Many of the same presenters that were so well received last year are returning with the latest information on RTI systems implementation, and we have some great new speakers as well. Based on feedback from the 2012 evaluations, this year’s institute was designed to be more differentiated towards both the level of RTI implementation and the educator’s role in the RTI process. Full-day strands for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels will be offered on Saturday.  A wide variety of special topic sessions will be offered on Sunday so that participants have a chance to explore one or two interest areas in-depth.  We also will offer more opportunities to meet and discuss RTI with colleagues by having lunch on site and an evening “meet and share” on Saturday.

Kodiak Island Virtual Learning Conference: MAKE it Happen, June 1-3 (Kodiak)

The Kodiak Island Virtual Learning Conference is for educators and administrators across the state of Alaska who are focused on virtual/distance/blended/online learning.  This conference is also a valuable experience for educators who are focused on STEM related content or who are looking to move their content/instruction to an online or blended learning platform. This year AKTEACH is pleased to welcome GCI School Access as a sponsor and presenter. The Kodiak Island Virtual Learning Conference’s theme this year is MAKE it Happen! This theme speaks to integrating STEM/STEAM related, hands-on activities into the virtual/distance/blended/online learning classroom. There has been a recent surge of interest in the “maker culture” experience and this conference offers educators and administrators the opportunity to participate and play in STEM/STEAM hands-on projects. AKTEACH will be hosting 5 presentation/workshop strands this year.

  • Educators can take the conference for continuing education credit for  the course fee of $45.00.
  • Conference registration is on the conference website: goo.gl/zbzog8
